NSA warns cellphone location data could pose a national security threat

Recently the Wall Street Journal published an article titled "NSA warns cellphone location data could pose a national security threat." In 2019 the New York Times had published a series of articles on this topic as well, and the Pentagon and Department of Defense have been tackling this problem since the NYT articles. This is a topic of significance. The majority of people don't realize or are uninformed about this issue. There is another data collection method that can also be utilized to geolocate a cell phone. This is called ADINT and is the process of gathering information through the virtual advertising environment. The University of Washington's Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Engineering published a paper on this topic as well. https://adint.cs.washington.edu/. Combine all of this with the recent articles we have shared on TikTok, and the issue of data gathering and sharing by the usage of cell phones and apps becomes clearer that the threat is real.
